Family-Friendly Neonatal Intensive Care

We design Neonatal Intensive Care Units where parents can stay close to their babies throughout the entire care process: their presence is essential for the newborn and an integral part of the therapy.

A stay in the NICU can be long and involves the whole family. It is important to create conditions that support the emotional, social and psychological needs of parents, as well as of brothers and sisters, who may struggle with the length of treatment and their parents’ absence from home, as also required by the “European Standards of Care for Newborn Health” guidelines.

We provide products and solutions that simplify the daily care of the newborn and strengthen the parental bond. We complete the environments with light and noise control systems for the well-being of our tiny patients. We design small restorative oases, welcome areas for siblings, and protected spaces for counseling and bereavement to reduce parents’ stress.

Parental Bonding

Kangaroo care, breastfeeding and neonatal care

We provide comfortable Toast R seats for skin-to-skin contact, MimmaMà chairs that make breastfeeding easier, including for twins, as well as breast milk expression, and sleeper armchairs so parents can rest close to their newborn.

Our BimMa ME cot, updated to comply with EN 50637, allows emergency intervention on the newborn and complete contact between parent and baby.

The MaBim cradle, created to simplify 24-hour rooming-in in complete safety, makes it easier to transport the newborn, carry out medical examinations, and use thermal mattresses, equipment and phototherapy lamps.

Privacy

Protecting privacy without creating isolation

In Neonatal Intensive Care Units, we strive to protect the family’s privacy and to facilitate parents’ contact with the newborn, as well as their participation in care. For the most critical moments and the most delicate situations, such as end-of-life support and bereavement, we design single, private and protected spaces.

In other cases, to avoid creating isolation, we provide flexible solutions such as movable screens, which quickly create a personal space around the newborn and their family. The screens feature emotional graphics that help humanize the hospital environment, making the space more empathetic.
